For most devices in our online shop, in addition to the condition, you can also choose a VAT category: margin scheme (without VAT on your invoice) or with VAT. You will then see two different prices. What does this mean, and which option is right for you?
What is the margin scheme?
The margin scheme is a tax scheme that applies to used products, including refurbished devices. For a device under the margin scheme, we only pay VAT on our margin, not on the full sale price.
What does this mean for you?
- VAT is not shown separately on your invoice.
- You therefore cannot reclaim the VAT from the tax authorities.
- The price you see is the price you pay.
What does “with VAT” mean?
If you choose a device with VAT, we charge VAT on the full sale price. This VAT is shown separately on your invoice.
What does this mean for you?
- VAT is shown separately on your invoice.
- Are you a VAT-registered business? In most cases, you can reclaim this VAT.
Which option is right for me?
| Margin scheme | With VAT | |
|---|---|---|
| VAT shown separately on the invoice | No | Yes |
| Reclaiming VAT | Not possible | Possible for businesses |
| Suitable for | Private individuals | Business buyers |
| Warranty and quality | Same | Same |
Are you buying as a private individual? Then choose the margin scheme. You cannot reclaim the VAT anyway, and this is usually the most affordable option for you.
Are you buying for business purposes? Then choose a device with VAT, so that you can reclaim the VAT. Do work out which option is most beneficial for your situation.
Is there a difference in quality or warranty?
No. The difference is only in the tax scheme, not in the device itself. Every device undergoes the same 50-point test, is repaired where necessary and comes with a 3-year warranty.
Where can I choose this?
On the product page, when selecting your device. You will see both prices there. Once you have placed your order, we can no longer change the VAT category afterwards. So make sure you choose the right option in advance.
